Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Recently Daas hasn't made many posts because of some personal stuff; however, there was something Daas saw on Youtube on how some false Sikhs were claiming that all the other forms of the Satguru past Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji were false. Daas was deeply hurt by such accusations, so Daas will attempt to respond for those Sikhs who have seen them and been lost on their way in confusion. (Daas will not link the original video as that individual will get more views than they deserve, but will mention their points.)
1. The fact that this indivudal beleives that there is only one true Guru is somewhat correct; however, it's mostly in the confusion that limits Vaheguru to simply a body, and they also believe only the first form of the Guru had any protection from Vaheguru; which is also untrue, but we will explain that in the next sentences. The true Guru has never been in the form of a body; but rather the body took shape for the Guru when he first came and spread his message until the end of his time; later on becoming known as Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji, (this continued until Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was given Gur-Gaddi). The other point was that the Gurus past Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji were not protected from Vaheguru, this also is untrue because of the fact that the Guru had been always head-strong especially known for when Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji went to Assam to correct the witches from their previously corrupt ways in the area known as Kamrup, (which even today is considered a black magic headquarters), the Guru had done simran and all that was to happen had failed. 2. The proposed by said person that Guruship can only be given by Vaheguru and not a man; (which he believes Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji to be a man), this is true but it fails to realize that the true Guru is actually God himself that merely took a body for the sins of all people. This point is easily desputed by the fact that in Gurbani it says the Guru is God, "ਜੋਤਿ ਰੂਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਹਾਯਉ ॥ जोति रूपि हरि आपि गुरू नानकु कहायउ ॥ Joṯ rūp har āp gurū Nānak kahā▫ya▫o. The Embodiment of Light, the Lord Himself is called Guru Nanak." (Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Ang 1408). So he himself was authorized to give Guruship as he himself was God. Also there was a special ceremony made for giving the Gurship that involved a coconut, a tilak, and 5 coins that are worth less than a ruppee, (in a materialistic sense). 3. Another complaint is Sodhi Raj; (the fact that the Gurus were Sodhis for a long time till Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Ram Das Ji- Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji), this is because of a promise made by Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Amar Das Ji to Bibi Bhani that the Gurship would stay in the family; and who she married was Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Ram Das Ji, so the family line stayed in the Sodhi family, (though for this; Guru Sahib also said that they would face lots of hardships for keeping the light of Vaheguru in their family, which did happen). 4. The fact that the other Gurus faced harships is something this guy rants a lot about; however, the Gurus could not be subject to any of it; rather giving themselves up for the cause that is Sikhi; the Shaheedi of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji was to preserve the honor of Gurbani, Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji Shaheedi was to give protection to those who could not protect themselves; by giving his own head. Also the fact is that even Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji took hardships upon himself for the sake of the world; (Mehta Kalu; had slapped him for feeding people). 5. Gurbani contradictions is another statement by this Pakhandi preacher; however, in the actual video he never made any actual arguments other than the first Gurus words were slightly different, (not truly an actual contradiction). 6. Amrit Sanchar and how it was a ritual to fake preacher; the fact is that Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji gave Amrit as well in the form of Charan Pahul, (drinking the water from which Vaheguru put his feet in and washed it), the only difference was the preparations became different from Charan Pahul to Khande-Di-Pahul, (Amrit made from a double-edged sword), following a Panth is also against him; even though Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji never said anything like this, (he also supports Janam Sakhi over Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Dasam Granth, Gurdas Vaaran, and Nand Lal Ghazals, so that shows his ideas). Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! As many of the Sangat reading this know, Bandi Chor Diwas is soon; so as part of a special post we, will be talking about Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Hargobind Ji, (6th Guru), freeing the 52 kings of the jail known as Gwailor Fort, as well as himself being considered free, (the Guru is the only true free being; however, we are referring to a worldly level), and why he was in the jail in the first place?
To begin we have to understand why Guru Sahib was sent to prison by Jahangir, the same king whom Guru Sahib saved from death against a lion; the reason for him first being sent was that Jahangir was ill, and was told the only cure would be to send the holiest person who he knew into Gwailor Fort, (which was a prison known to have a very small survival rate for the inmates), and since the holiest person that has ever came in all of history was the Jot of the Guru, he decided to put Guru Sahib in jail. Throughout this, the man known as Chandu Shah, (the one who caused Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji to become Shaheed), had decided to get plans to kill the 6th form of Guru as well; however, Gursikhs had easily found out and had brought him to justice, (he was brought to justice from the very person who was one of the executioners of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji). The next important thing was the importance of the 52 kings. Eventually Jahangir was cured from his disease and forgot that Guru Sahib was in jail; (Guru Sahib stayed in Gwailor Fort for years before Jahangir had realized what he was doing), and eventually some Sufi mystics, including Mian Mir and others told Jahangir that he should realize Guru Sahib especially for the fact that his problem was fixed and that he was previously protected by Guru Sahib. Jahangir decided to free the Guru; however, Guru Sahib would not leave because of Daya, (compassion), and eventually told Jahangir he would only leave if all the 52 kings of Gwailor Fort were to be freed as well. Eventually this led to Jahangir telling Guru Sahib that he would allow the kings to leave, if they could hold on to Guru Sahib's cloak, so in response Guru Sahib had a cloak with 52 corners made special for this. Eventually all 52 kings were freed and Sikhs were allowed to see Guru Sahib freed, after many years, (Baba Buddha was the main person who had contact with Guru Sahib during this period and he with a group of Sikhs would go to Gwailor every month to see Guru Sahib). Finally Guru Sahib was able to do more great works, and was able to travel to do prachar and fight in some battles against Shah Jahan. Vaheguru, Vaheguru, Vaheguru, let us all be grateful for the blessings Guru Sahib constantly gives us, in the same way Guru Sahib can free physical kings from physical suffering, he can free us from our spiritual brokenness, and lead us to Vaheguru. He is not subject to any laws of Karma and reincarnation, which is why we can be free. Bhul Chuk Maaf Karni, (Forgive any Mistakes from Daas), Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Something Daas has seen a lot of pakhand of is the idea of Manmat, (those without desire for Guru Sahib), love has brought down the idea of Gurmat of what it means to truly love anything, (from Vaheguru to the near person). The great thing is once you love Vaheguru, you will be able to love all things, instead of the idea of being obsessed in the infatuation of certain individuals; while not being controlled by the 5 evils. Jab lag ras ṯab lag nahī nehu. ||1|| rahā▫o. As long as there is attachment to pleasure, there can be no spiritual love. ||1||Pause||" (Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Ang 328) (The Gurmukhi script has been restored.) So the key is that Moh, (attachment), and Prem, (love), are not the same concept. An example from Sikh history is that Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji had Prem, (love), for his Sahibzadey;(Ajit, Jujhar, Zorawar, and Fateh); however, he was not attached, and that was true love according to Gurmat.
Some other Pakhand going around is that the idea of Kaam, (lust), being love; however, this is also not true either, as Kaam is an obsessive desire towards some want; (usually in sexual aspects), this takes us away from actually growing with whoever. Today many people have been controlled by many main aspects such as Pornography and other Lustful things; as those trying to follow Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji; we must be strong and use the power given to us by Guru Sahib to combat lust. Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji once said in his own bani not to even in dreams sleep with another person of the opposite gender; other than once's own spouse; so how would it be better by any other scenario? Vaheguru, hopefully we understand the difference between Prem and the 2 evils; Moh and Kaam, and realize which side is the side of Gurmat. Vaheguru, Bhul Chuk Maaf Karni, (Forgive Any Mistakes From Daas), Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! A new unique program called Virsa Box has been made by some Gursikhs in Canada, and it's a monthly program for kids aged 4-12 with availability in U.S, Canada, and the U.K. Basically people can learn about the program on their website and Facebook page and contact the team involved, (Daas is NOT involved in the team, so it's best to contact them). Kids can learn about Gurmukhi, Bani, Ithiaas, and situations for daily problems. The program costs about $40 in Canadian Dollars per month, ($30.37 in USD), so for less than 2 dollars a day you can provide this for your kids or other relatives/friends.
Virsa Box Homespage: https://www.virsabox.com/products/virsa-box Virsa Box Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/VirsaBox/ Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Something Daas wanted to talk about was how some people have somehow made a different term for the words Gursikh, and Sikh; and why this negatively effects everyone. Something we should know is the actual name of the following of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji is called Gursikhi, especially in the times Bhai Gurdas names the religion, "gur sikhee dhee eaehu neesaanee |13| These are the virtuous marks of the Sikh culture.(13)" (Bhai Gurdas Vaaran 28 Pauri 13). *(The website for some reason prevented the Gurmukhi version, and as Daas doesn't have a Gurmukhi keyboard it was left out). So when we realize that Gurmat is from the Gursikhi rather than just the term Sikh we can go onto the next thing, respect for the two terms; this will be our topic for today.
Ultimately Daas would prefer this being a non-issue; but many people on both sides; have disrespected the terms so much that it has lost it's meaning for Sikhs on Earth, (but still retains it's meaning in Sach Khand). Let's took at the definition of Gursikh, which means Sikh, (student) of the Guru, and the term Sikh by itself means student; with that we can guess that they are working towards following Gurmat, right? This is where the difference on Earth comes, those who say they are Sikh, but not Gursikh; have made the entire word a form of cultural birth, rather than actual practice; while those who are Gursikh still practice. (On our home-page, our line is "Gursikh Meet Chalo Gur Chali"). We actually won't go into depth for this topic, this is mostly just something we should reflect on, (so if anyone reading was expecting a long story, Daas asks for your forgiveness, but we should think about these topics without going in depth). Bhul Chuk Maaf Karni, (forgive any mistakes from Daas), Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Daas's topic for this particular section is on the importance of Sangat, (those whom you associate with); the ways it helps us merge with the Guru and fight our Haumai, (ego). This will be relatively short; however, many Sikh groups have mentioned the need for Sangat; which you may read about throughout the internet and in real life. So without further distractions lets move on to the importance of Sangat.
Sangat is important as it allows us to merge with a true essence as a group is stronger than an individual; if that group is united, (even in non-Gurmat importance). A story on the importance of Sangat was, when the historic Sikh, Joga Singh from the era of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, (10th form of Guru Sahib), he was told to leave his wedding whenever Guru Sahib had given him Hukam, Joga Singh did this immediately and left in the middle of his wedding; however, he received Haumai, especially with the idea that only he could do what he did, he was away from any true Sangat; eventually he had absorbed the fall of Kaam, (lust), on him, and once he was interested in going to a brothel, (again no Sikhs were with him, and he was going alone), eventually the story went that when he was attempting to go there; there was a Sikh; who continually prevented him from going in, (Guru Sahib), Joga Singh attempted many times; however, the Sikh, (Guru Sahib dressed as a normal Sikh), continually prevented him; eventually Joga Singh gave up this Pakhand, (falsehood), after the entire night was done, and the Sikh, (Guru Sahib), was constantly blocking him, so he went directly to Guru Sahib's Darbar; in which he noticed Guru Sahib had been the Sikh all this time; and confessed to his Paap. The story moral was on the need for great Sangat and how we can assist each other as Sangat to prevent us to going to the darkness. How Sangat stops our Haumai? When we see others in Bhagti; we realize that we aren't the only ones following Hukam; but rather as a community. Once we are free from Haumai; we can merge with the Guru; (there are some; who seem to have merged with only inspiring Sangat; many Mahapurukhs people consider great; however, they have been Pre-Mukt; which is a concept for another time). Finally we get inspired to change internally, especially with how certain people are more progressed then ourselves. Saṯsangaṯ saṯgur cẖatsāl hai jiṯ har guṇ sikẖā. The Sat Sangat, the True Congregation of the True Guru, is the school of the soul, where the Glorious Virtues of the Lord are studied." Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Ang 1316. What we learn is the need for Sangat from Gurmat perspective. Vaheguru, bless us with good Sangat, hopefully Daas as well as the readers of this blog may be blessed with such Sangat to bless us all. Guru Sahib is the true king; however, Sangat is the way we can go there and grow. Vaheguru, Bhul Chuk Maaf Karni, (Forgive any mistakes from Daas). Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Something that Daas has always wondered while growing-up was how different Worldly Spirituality was from Gurmat, and in the beginning, Daas used to believe they were similar; however, the two are very different; though there are those similarities that we can recognize. What Daas will be going over is why Gurmat is unique and how worldly spirituality can also prove to be a different spirituality all together from what Gurmat can allow us to do. *(Note, there may be some things that Daas may not exactly have the full answer for, as worldly spirituality is extremely diverse and not united by anything). So hopefully we can fully appreciate the need for Gurmat and have full respect for Gur-prassad.
First we will begin with some similarities between the two philosophies, there are a few and many of the things from worldly spirituality can assist us growing in Gurmat, (even though only one of them is truly connecting to Vaheguru completely). Some similarities is that from worldly spirituality the goal is for the individual to be able to connect to something, the really wish to connect to some outer energy which they believe is with everyone, this is similar to Gurmat as we try to connect to Vaheguru through Amrit Vela Simran. Another similarity is both paths require a certain lifestyle change in order to fully progress on a journey; for the worldly it may include some meditation, yoga, food changes, dressing a certain way, as well as limiting intake of intoxicants; for the Gurmat philosophy, we strive to change our lifestyle by doing our Nitnem, (daily prayers), simran, (chanting the Gurmantar: Vaheguru), controlling the effect of the 5 thieves, (lust, anger, greed, pride, and attachment), having some form of bana, (our 5ks), and doing what we can to build up our high qualities and give everything to Vaheguru, and Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Other similarities between the 2 paths include the need for finding a spiritual leader as well as a teacher; for the worldly spiritual people this may include a whole bunch of people with different thoughts of spirituality; while for Gurmat this is Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji-Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. And finally the 2 groups both attempt to answer the questions of life and death; as well as the importance of what to do here and after we leave, (for the worldly spiritual leaders this is diverse; however, each of them attempt to answer it, for Gurmat the answer is too deep to explain in this topic). Now that we got the similarities we should acknowledge the differences between the 2 philosophies. In the worldly spirituality, the instructors usually require a dedication of materialistic things; (such as a lot of money, or gifts), while in Gurmat, Guru Sahib asks only for what one gives with true love and dedication; in Gurmat we give due to our love; while for worldly instructors it is more of a business, (some of these people charge at least $100-$200 per hour). Another major difference is one is in the worldly, the student having to find his way out and inside of their spiritual goals; having to go to how many people; while not knowing for sure what is true and what is not, and is stuck having to think for themselves; while in Gurmat spirituality a student can have guaranteed way of knowing what to believe from Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, and not having to be extremely confused on the journey and can read Gurbani for themselves; (some fake leaders charge a lot for spiritual advice of asking questions, without really giving answers and giving vague responses most of the times). But the hugest difference between Worldly and Gurmat, is that in the worldly spirituality the leaders will tell you what they feel will keep you coming and giving their money; while in Gurmat philosophy; Guru Sahib will tell you what you need to hear to save you from 8.4 million lives, because the love Satguru Sahib has for anyone willing to learn from him is much greater than anyone can even imagine, and he would love to free you, even when you may not feel in love with Guru Sahib yourself. These are some differences between Gurmat and Worldly Spirituality. How Worldly Spirituality can help someone on the path of Gurmat, as a different world view? Daas personally feels that Worldly Spirituality can help people because of the importance of that many people try to follow and learn from what they heard, many Sikhs today usually only know what to do; however, usually they don't follow, (and then they get lost). Usually some worldly spiritual people are genuinely interested in learning what to know about their own ideas and always ask questions to find the answers for; we as Sikhs can learn from that because as we ask questions and get answers; our faith in Guru Sahib will increase, sometimes, we need answers to our questions; and Guru Sahib has all the answers we can ever find. Many of the worldly spiritual people wake-up early for their devotional meditations, Amrit Vela is a completely Sikh concept that has been proven as a true time for Bhagti, (this was one of the things worldly spiritual took from Gurmat philosophy, that many of our people have forgotten), it is very important to get-up early for Bhagti. The last main reason worldly spirituality can help those on Gurmat philosophy is; it makes us feel more blessed and realize just how great Guru Sahib is, because while the world is busy finding spirituality which may take an extremely long time; we were blessed with the shortcut, especially if we were born into Sikh families from Gur-prassad; that out of all the people we were chosen to get a step-up and understand truth easily, and we can say Dhan Hai Sikhi, (Great is Sikhi), and finally acknowledge we have everything sorted out for us to rush through the 8.4 million lives and achieve Mukti in this life because of Gur-prassad. Vaheguru, what we must realize is that because of our love for Guru Sahib, we may distinguish those trying to deceive us, and merge with Vaheguru. Through Gur-prassad, we are able to be given a fast-lane of Sikhi to get the ultimate spiritual benefits. While Worldly Spirituality has it's benefits, it does not equal to even a small amount of Gurmat Philosophy. Vaheguru, may we hopefully be blessed to understand just how blessed we are to know about Guru Sahib. Bhul Chuk Maaf Karni, Forgive Any Mistakes From Daas. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Something Daas seems to see a lot of in the modern world among various so-called Sikh groups is the revival of slandering each other; usually over some non-important things, (style of Dastar, what clothes someone wears, what mistakes someone made in the past, and the sorrow of basic gossip). Sometimes some groups even make the Nindak of Mahapurukhs and Sants, even when Gurbani is more clear about their Nindak, "ਸੰਤ ਕੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਦੋਖ ਮਹਿ ਦੋਖੁ ॥संत की निंदा दोख महि दोखु ॥Sanṯ kī ninḏā ḏokẖ mėh ḏokẖ.To slander a Saint is the worst sin of sins."(Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Ang 280). What Daas will do is discuss why this slander doesn't help anyone grow and instead only brings people down to Manmat.
We know that the speech of those who are merged into Vaheguru is of purity instead of gossip, as Guru Sahib has stated that, "ਖੂਬੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਗਰੀ ਮੀਠੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਬੋਲ ॥खूबु तेरी पगरी मीठे तेरे बोल ॥Kẖūb ṯerī pagrī mīṯẖe ṯere bol.How handsome is your turban! And how sweet is your speech." (Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Ang 727) The shabad is describing Vaheguru, as having both a Pagri which is great; as well as having legendary pure speech. Gurbani is very much against Nindak towards anyone, and those who profess to follow Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji should avoid meaningless slander, (slander is different from standing for what is right as they have proven that they will follow Manmat). Bad talking also only brings people down; instead of bringing them up; as Sikhs we acknowledge the need for the idea of Sarbat Da Bhalla, (well-being for all); however, in what way can we say that we believe in Sarbat Da Bhalla if we bring others down, through our Nindak on the small things? While we are improving ourselves; we should encourage others to also follow Gurmat. Vaheguru, Vaheguru, Vaheguru, hopefully through our own changes we can grow and inspire others to grow as well. Through Gurmat we can change the entire world; by preventing the meaningless slander that happens, (notice that both nindak and standing-up for what is right are 2 completely different concepts, the first is meaningless; while the second is part of Dharam-Justice). Whenever we see someone that is still growing we shouldn't slander; rather inspire. Vaheguru, Vaheguru, Vaheguru, may we Jaap Naam and be true Sikhs. Bhul Chuk Maaf Karni, (Forgive for any Mistakes), Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Daas has decided to make the topic of today to talk about the 5ks and their importance is Sikhi. The 5 are Kesh, Kirpan, Kangha, Kara, and Kachera. Each Kakkar will get it's own paragraph to prevent confusion.
Kesh: This Kakkar is probably considered most important as we are all born with Kesh, (uncut hair); regardless of whether we will ever accept the Sikh path in the future and allow Guru Sahib to change us from the inside. Many of even other faiths at the levels of spirituality of just bellow Sach Khand; (only those who have accepted Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji can enter Sach Khand). Bhagti and Spirituality have both been discovered that there is some important thing in Kesh; but even greater is the possibility to potentially limit Haumai from following the Guru's Hukam. Kirpan: This Kakkar is mostly of remembering the idea of defending someone with your own life on the line; Kirpan, (sheathed sword). This can control a person's anger; as the idea that you have something which can potential bring grace; (literal meaning of Kirpan), then the individual in question has to provide a higher level of spirituality. Mostly only those who have Chacked Amrit wear a Kirpan; as of many things responsibilities in wearing one. Kangha: The Kangha, or wooden comb; represents cleanness and makes us remember not to be attached to anything as some of the Kesh which we grow may come off as we comb twice a day; and allows us to be instead attached to the Naam which we receive from Guru Sahib. The Kangha is important also because of the need for remembering Vaheguru with each time we comb our hair. Kara: Kara; or steel/iron bracelet makes us remember Vaheguru and makes us do good work; Daas doesn't have to good of an explanation for it. Kachera: The Kachera; (long undergarments); is important as it controls a form of lust that we may we fighting whether we are married or unmarried. That is all Daas can say for Kachera. Vaheguru, Vaheguru, Vaheguru, Vaheguru; We should remember that the 5ks are Hukam; and while may not understand the importance of the Kakkars, we should still wear them. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Due to personal things going on; Daas will not make any new posts for the next 2 weeks; for anyone who would attempt to contact from the Contact section; [email protected] Daas will try to look at it after the 2 weeks are over. Bhul Chuk Maaf Karni; Forgive for any Inconvenience from Daas. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! When Daas when discussing his last main topic, (Amrit Sanchar); Daas mentioned that Naam was the solution to Mukti and the Punj Pyare give Naam; however, today we will be talking about why Naam is important for everyone, Amritdhari or otherwise.
What Naam Simran tests a lot of us; is how strong are we spiritually when we are not given anything other than Naam Simran to do; many of us get distracted, not because of our Haumai; but rather because of our own weakness spiritually and low commitment from many of our lives; *(some people will not have hardships; as in their previous lives; they were still doing some form of Bhagti), Naam also purifies the soul; in the same way Nitnem fills the soul; with it we begin to progress on a steady path. Naam Simran is also the fastest highway towards going spiritually; as even people who practice all the other ways of spirituality, it all together does not equal both the simplicity and power of a single Jaap of Naam. Even though only the Punj Pyare can give Naam; we highly recommend all people to go to Naam Simran's whenever you guys can, because hopefully being at a Naam Simran program and maybe you joining that Sangat which Jaaps the Naam; you as well may hopefully get a small taste of what the power of Naam is; (Daas can't explain it too much, as everyone has different experiences). Saying Vaheguru, Vaheguru, Vaheguru; does someone get true benefits and awakening in the mind and spirit and is ready for a strong spiritual battle; either uphill or downhill; that person will still progress in the house of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Vaheguru Ji will not be stronger or weaker whether you do Naam Simran or not; what will change is how the person who is Jaaping the Naam grows spiritually. Some people will say Naam is all Gurbani; others will say it is Seva; some may call Naam by many acts and non-acts of Gurmat; some may call Naam the Maryada; others will call it Kirtan; however, what Daas says is that Naam can be all of these things listed above; however, many people shy away from saying Naam being the Gurmantar which is Vaheguru; and to Jaap in Amrit Vela; (Daas does not judge these people; rather different perspectives let us see the path of Sikhi to an even wider extent), We recommend everyone Jaap Naam; preferably at Amrit Vela; even for one full minute and hopefully progress; even just Jaaping once with true focus will change your lifestyle and everything very much. That one simran program near your program; or whether starting the lifestyle to dedicated Naam Simran will bless you a lot. Vaheguru, Vaheguru, Vaheguru; is what we should focus on, and the Guru's own form whom is Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Bhul Chuk Maaf Karni, Forgive any mistakes from Daas; Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh; something Daas noticed was that some people on this site; wanted to specifically look for only certain sections, so Daas made a page on this site for Archives which is more advanced than the Archives already on here which is divided by months; (if you guys still want to use the monthly Archives; we won't mess with that; but for those searching certain topics there is an option for you guys now). Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Once we acknowledge that the main purpose of life is to merge with Vaheguru; we find ourselves wondering, "How should we merge with Vaheguru?" The answer became ever so simple; and that answer was Naam, (we haven't went over a Naam topic; however, that is the answer to merge with Vaheguru). Next is where will we get the Naam, and that is from the Punj Pyare; in the form of the Gurmantar and the Mool Mantar. So Daas will try the best possible to explain the importance of Amrit Sanchar in this topic.
Whenever a disciple desires to serve the solution has always been to serve with your life, "ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੫ ॥Salok Ma 5 ||ਪਹਿਲਾ ਮਰਣੁ ਕਬੂਲਿ ਜੀਵਣ ਕੀ ਛਡਿ ਆਸ ॥Pehilaa Maran Kabool Jeevan Kee Shhadd Aas || First, accept death, and give up any hope of life.ਹੋਹੁ ਸਭਨਾ ਕੀ ਰੇਣੁਕਾ ਤਉ ਆਉ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੧॥Hohu Sabhanaa Kee Raenukaa Tho Aao Hamaarai Paas ||1||Become the dust of the feet of all, and then, you may come to me. ||1||" (Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Ang 1102). Once we realize that; then we can start growing on our spiritual journey; especially since Amrit is beyond death. When one starts to live according to Gurmat; then can one truly cross the worldly ocean; and hopefully merge with Vaheguru; and that is when the Punj Pyare give the Naam. Some may Jaap Naam; however, without a Guru; what progress is there, especially a true Guru who is enlightened at such an early stage. Amrit is both the beginning and the end of something; it is the start to a new life; and also the end of the negativity that was surrounding you from progress; (Paap), with the forgiveness of your Paap, or Sins; we finally are able to be free and truly progress in Gurmat. Now some people may ask is Amrit important if you already Jaap the Naam; maybe as a strong connection, "Is Amrit still worth it?" To them; Daas will say that these people would benefit even more than a Paapi, (sinner), like Daas when he took Amrit. Why is it even better for these people who had Naam Jaap before Amrit to take Amrit is because of the system of what Amrit really is, and Amrit is giving the head to the Guru, now their Naam Jaaps get a point for having a Guru, if they Jaaped Naam even once before taking Amrit; that would be multiplied by 10 times; if such a person was doing this constant Amrit Vela for even 1 Jaap of Amrit Vela Simran; that blessing would be immense with Amrit from the Punj Pyare. Amrit is also an opportunity or a turn; as we don't always get to know that Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji is the only way anytime; but rather; we must be productive with the time we have. To those who want to take Amrit; remember that this is about giving your head to the Guru; and not to gain any external gain; (do it from the heart). If you are not ready to take Amrit; then Daas asks for you to still improve your Bhagti; with Nitnem; maybe listening to Kirtan; doing Seva; trying to wake-up at Amrit Vela and work on your simran; so when you may feel prepared and wanting to take it; you can already have some Bhagti from taking Amrit and start at a higher Rehat than someone who didn't do Bhagti before Amrit, (though at the end; both will reach the goal to be with the Guru). To everyone else who is neither ready; nor wants to take Amrit; Daas asks for you to also improve your Bhagti and doing Seva and waking-up Amrit Vela; as Daas was once in this section; the Guru is not only the Guru for the Sikhs, but all of humanity; and he still wants you to progress; even if that may be in your own pace. Vaheguru, Vaheguru, Vaheguru; when we realize this; that is when we can start to grow. In Daas growth; there have been many mistakes; but due to Amrit; Daas has finally found a way to keep strong with the Guru's blessings. Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji is the one who can save us and merge us with Vaheguru; nobody else even comes close. Through Amrit; we can progress and finally reach a life-goal of finally building Kirpa, (grace), to merge with Vaheguru. Vaheguru; Bhul Chuk Maaf Karni; Forgive any Mistakes from Daas. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Daas doesn't really have much to talk about this week; however, due to the nature of this site;(more specifically Weebly), Daas decided to find some good Sikh sites, so people can hopefully find some good knowledge from, because knowledge anywhere is good; and whoever can help us grow and find the Guru; is helpful to all of us. Daas will give some small description or summary of what these sites are about.
http://www.sikh-history.com/ This site is about Sikh history; it talks about the Gurus and the Bhagats eras; as well as the many Sikh Shaheeds. http://www.littlesikhs.com/ This website is good for young kids; it is somewhat basic; but it is a good place for young people to start. http://www.sikhismguide.org/ This website talks about a basic guide into both the beliefs as well as a little bit into the history. http://www.sikhlionz.com/ This website is slightly more advance; as it is based more heavily on both Spirituality and on Temporal sides; you learn about some very important stuff here. We try to stay away from people with Jatha bias; however, there may be some good Sikh Jatha websites as well; (we will not post them; due to staying impartial). Vaheguru, hopefully bless us with knowledge from wherever we get it from. Bhul Chuk Maaf Karni, Forgive Any Mistakes from Daas; Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Recently Daas has noticed that many people still feel the need to feel higher or lower from others; however, this is not Gurmat. as Gurbani says this: "ਜਾਣਹੁ ਜੋਤਿ ਨ ਪੂਛਹੁ ਜਾਤੀ ਆਗੈ ਜਾਤਿ ਨ ਹੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ जाणहु जोति न पूछहु जाती आगै जाति न हे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Jāṇhu joṯ na pūcẖẖahu jāṯī āgai jāṯ na he. ||1|| rahā▫o. Recognize the Lord's Light within all, and do not consider social class or status; there are no classes or castes in the world hereafter. ||1||Pause||" (Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Ang 349). (Note: This does not mean that everyone is Vaheguru; but rather, that everyone has Vaheguru's light inside of them, only Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and the 11 Gurus have the light of Vaheguru fully shining inside of them.) So that is what Daas will focus on for this topic.
A Gurmukh who can see Vaheguru in all things is definitely the type of person that would be hard to find; as there are many mistakes throughout us; and sometimes we want to feel higher or lower because of what we do; rather than accept that it is Hukam. Vaheguru is not interested in our ranks in society; but rather our service to humanity and to the message of what he preached. This equality does not mean groups are equal; but rather there are no groups: and humanity is one. "ਆਈ ਪੰਥੀ ਸਗਲ ਜਮਾਤੀ ਮਨਿ ਜੀਤੈ ਜਗੁ ਜੀਤੁ ॥ आई पंथी सगल जमाती मनि जीतै जगु जीतु ॥ Ā▫ī panthī sagal jamāṯī man jīṯai jag jīṯ. See the brotherhood of all mankind as the highest order of Yogis; conquer your own mind, and conquer the world." (Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Ang 6) This is important as it shows that not only humanity is equal; but rather they are one, and not separate groups. Something to know is that rules of growing in Bhagti apply to everyone; nobody is exempt from following the same rules of Bhagti; and that is to go to Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji because everyone needs the Satguru equally; and built the qualities of a Gurmukh. Vaheguru, this was a very important topic; as sometimes; in the name of "false equality", we organize humanity into different groups; rather than accept humans as one; and we make the groups equal, not the people; however. Gurmat is about humanity as equal not groups. We also must attempt to see Vaheguru in all; since he is the cause for everything, and we must especially not divide ourselves over small issues. Most importantly, we should acknowledge that the rules for Bhagti apply to everyone, and the only way one can progress is through the Satguru, Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Vaheguru, Vaheguru, Vaheguru; this is the what we must remember. Vaheguru, Bhul Chuk Maaf Karni, Forgive Any Mistakes from Daas. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! |
