Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! When Daas when discussing his last main topic, (Amrit Sanchar); Daas mentioned that Naam was the solution to Mukti and the Punj Pyare give Naam; however, today we will be talking about why Naam is important for everyone, Amritdhari or otherwise.
What Naam Simran tests a lot of us; is how strong are we spiritually when we are not given anything other than Naam Simran to do; many of us get distracted, not because of our Haumai; but rather because of our own weakness spiritually and low commitment from many of our lives; *(some people will not have hardships; as in their previous lives; they were still doing some form of Bhagti), Naam also purifies the soul; in the same way Nitnem fills the soul; with it we begin to progress on a steady path. Naam Simran is also the fastest highway towards going spiritually; as even people who practice all the other ways of spirituality, it all together does not equal both the simplicity and power of a single Jaap of Naam. Even though only the Punj Pyare can give Naam; we highly recommend all people to go to Naam Simran's whenever you guys can, because hopefully being at a Naam Simran program and maybe you joining that Sangat which Jaaps the Naam; you as well may hopefully get a small taste of what the power of Naam is; (Daas can't explain it too much, as everyone has different experiences). Saying Vaheguru, Vaheguru, Vaheguru; does someone get true benefits and awakening in the mind and spirit and is ready for a strong spiritual battle; either uphill or downhill; that person will still progress in the house of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Vaheguru Ji will not be stronger or weaker whether you do Naam Simran or not; what will change is how the person who is Jaaping the Naam grows spiritually. Some people will say Naam is all Gurbani; others will say it is Seva; some may call Naam by many acts and non-acts of Gurmat; some may call Naam the Maryada; others will call it Kirtan; however, what Daas says is that Naam can be all of these things listed above; however, many people shy away from saying Naam being the Gurmantar which is Vaheguru; and to Jaap in Amrit Vela; (Daas does not judge these people; rather different perspectives let us see the path of Sikhi to an even wider extent), We recommend everyone Jaap Naam; preferably at Amrit Vela; even for one full minute and hopefully progress; even just Jaaping once with true focus will change your lifestyle and everything very much. That one simran program near your program; or whether starting the lifestyle to dedicated Naam Simran will bless you a lot. Vaheguru, Vaheguru, Vaheguru; is what we should focus on, and the Guru's own form whom is Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Bhul Chuk Maaf Karni, Forgive any mistakes from Daas; Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh; something Daas noticed was that some people on this site; wanted to specifically look for only certain sections, so Daas made a page on this site for Archives which is more advanced than the Archives already on here which is divided by months; (if you guys still want to use the monthly Archives; we won't mess with that; but for those searching certain topics there is an option for you guys now). Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Once we acknowledge that the main purpose of life is to merge with Vaheguru; we find ourselves wondering, "How should we merge with Vaheguru?" The answer became ever so simple; and that answer was Naam, (we haven't went over a Naam topic; however, that is the answer to merge with Vaheguru). Next is where will we get the Naam, and that is from the Punj Pyare; in the form of the Gurmantar and the Mool Mantar. So Daas will try the best possible to explain the importance of Amrit Sanchar in this topic.
Whenever a disciple desires to serve the solution has always been to serve with your life, "ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੫ ॥Salok Ma 5 ||ਪਹਿਲਾ ਮਰਣੁ ਕਬੂਲਿ ਜੀਵਣ ਕੀ ਛਡਿ ਆਸ ॥Pehilaa Maran Kabool Jeevan Kee Shhadd Aas || First, accept death, and give up any hope of life.ਹੋਹੁ ਸਭਨਾ ਕੀ ਰੇਣੁਕਾ ਤਉ ਆਉ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੧॥Hohu Sabhanaa Kee Raenukaa Tho Aao Hamaarai Paas ||1||Become the dust of the feet of all, and then, you may come to me. ||1||" (Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Ang 1102). Once we realize that; then we can start growing on our spiritual journey; especially since Amrit is beyond death. When one starts to live according to Gurmat; then can one truly cross the worldly ocean; and hopefully merge with Vaheguru; and that is when the Punj Pyare give the Naam. Some may Jaap Naam; however, without a Guru; what progress is there, especially a true Guru who is enlightened at such an early stage. Amrit is both the beginning and the end of something; it is the start to a new life; and also the end of the negativity that was surrounding you from progress; (Paap), with the forgiveness of your Paap, or Sins; we finally are able to be free and truly progress in Gurmat. Now some people may ask is Amrit important if you already Jaap the Naam; maybe as a strong connection, "Is Amrit still worth it?" To them; Daas will say that these people would benefit even more than a Paapi, (sinner), like Daas when he took Amrit. Why is it even better for these people who had Naam Jaap before Amrit to take Amrit is because of the system of what Amrit really is, and Amrit is giving the head to the Guru, now their Naam Jaaps get a point for having a Guru, if they Jaaped Naam even once before taking Amrit; that would be multiplied by 10 times; if such a person was doing this constant Amrit Vela for even 1 Jaap of Amrit Vela Simran; that blessing would be immense with Amrit from the Punj Pyare. Amrit is also an opportunity or a turn; as we don't always get to know that Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji is the only way anytime; but rather; we must be productive with the time we have. To those who want to take Amrit; remember that this is about giving your head to the Guru; and not to gain any external gain; (do it from the heart). If you are not ready to take Amrit; then Daas asks for you to still improve your Bhagti; with Nitnem; maybe listening to Kirtan; doing Seva; trying to wake-up at Amrit Vela and work on your simran; so when you may feel prepared and wanting to take it; you can already have some Bhagti from taking Amrit and start at a higher Rehat than someone who didn't do Bhagti before Amrit, (though at the end; both will reach the goal to be with the Guru). To everyone else who is neither ready; nor wants to take Amrit; Daas asks for you to also improve your Bhagti and doing Seva and waking-up Amrit Vela; as Daas was once in this section; the Guru is not only the Guru for the Sikhs, but all of humanity; and he still wants you to progress; even if that may be in your own pace. Vaheguru, Vaheguru, Vaheguru; when we realize this; that is when we can start to grow. In Daas growth; there have been many mistakes; but due to Amrit; Daas has finally found a way to keep strong with the Guru's blessings. Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji is the one who can save us and merge us with Vaheguru; nobody else even comes close. Through Amrit; we can progress and finally reach a life-goal of finally building Kirpa, (grace), to merge with Vaheguru. Vaheguru; Bhul Chuk Maaf Karni; Forgive any Mistakes from Daas. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Daas doesn't really have much to talk about this week; however, due to the nature of this site;(more specifically Weebly), Daas decided to find some good Sikh sites, so people can hopefully find some good knowledge from, because knowledge anywhere is good; and whoever can help us grow and find the Guru; is helpful to all of us. Daas will give some small description or summary of what these sites are about.
http://www.sikh-history.com/ This site is about Sikh history; it talks about the Gurus and the Bhagats eras; as well as the many Sikh Shaheeds. http://www.littlesikhs.com/ This website is good for young kids; it is somewhat basic; but it is a good place for young people to start. http://www.sikhismguide.org/ This website talks about a basic guide into both the beliefs as well as a little bit into the history. http://www.sikhlionz.com/ This website is slightly more advance; as it is based more heavily on both Spirituality and on Temporal sides; you learn about some very important stuff here. We try to stay away from people with Jatha bias; however, there may be some good Sikh Jatha websites as well; (we will not post them; due to staying impartial). Vaheguru, hopefully bless us with knowledge from wherever we get it from. Bhul Chuk Maaf Karni, Forgive Any Mistakes from Daas; Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Recently Daas has noticed that many people still feel the need to feel higher or lower from others; however, this is not Gurmat. as Gurbani says this: "ਜਾਣਹੁ ਜੋਤਿ ਨ ਪੂਛਹੁ ਜਾਤੀ ਆਗੈ ਜਾਤਿ ਨ ਹੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ जाणहु जोति न पूछहु जाती आगै जाति न हे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Jāṇhu joṯ na pūcẖẖahu jāṯī āgai jāṯ na he. ||1|| rahā▫o. Recognize the Lord's Light within all, and do not consider social class or status; there are no classes or castes in the world hereafter. ||1||Pause||" (Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Ang 349). (Note: This does not mean that everyone is Vaheguru; but rather, that everyone has Vaheguru's light inside of them, only Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and the 11 Gurus have the light of Vaheguru fully shining inside of them.) So that is what Daas will focus on for this topic.
A Gurmukh who can see Vaheguru in all things is definitely the type of person that would be hard to find; as there are many mistakes throughout us; and sometimes we want to feel higher or lower because of what we do; rather than accept that it is Hukam. Vaheguru is not interested in our ranks in society; but rather our service to humanity and to the message of what he preached. This equality does not mean groups are equal; but rather there are no groups: and humanity is one. "ਆਈ ਪੰਥੀ ਸਗਲ ਜਮਾਤੀ ਮਨਿ ਜੀਤੈ ਜਗੁ ਜੀਤੁ ॥ आई पंथी सगल जमाती मनि जीतै जगु जीतु ॥ Ā▫ī panthī sagal jamāṯī man jīṯai jag jīṯ. See the brotherhood of all mankind as the highest order of Yogis; conquer your own mind, and conquer the world." (Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Ang 6) This is important as it shows that not only humanity is equal; but rather they are one, and not separate groups. Something to know is that rules of growing in Bhagti apply to everyone; nobody is exempt from following the same rules of Bhagti; and that is to go to Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji because everyone needs the Satguru equally; and built the qualities of a Gurmukh. Vaheguru, this was a very important topic; as sometimes; in the name of "false equality", we organize humanity into different groups; rather than accept humans as one; and we make the groups equal, not the people; however. Gurmat is about humanity as equal not groups. We also must attempt to see Vaheguru in all; since he is the cause for everything, and we must especially not divide ourselves over small issues. Most importantly, we should acknowledge that the rules for Bhagti apply to everyone, and the only way one can progress is through the Satguru, Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Vaheguru, Vaheguru, Vaheguru; this is the what we must remember. Vaheguru, Bhul Chuk Maaf Karni, Forgive Any Mistakes from Daas. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! If you guys remember, our last topic was on the Rehat Maryada, and something Daas noticed was that Seva barely had any information on it, so this post will hopefully cover Seva in more depth from Daas's perspective. Before we can truly understand Seva, we must understand that Haumai is what separates us from Vaheguru, this Haumai makes us believe in our own superiority and destroys our own humility and see the world how it truly is. Bhai Gurdas once wrote in his own Vaars, "ਵਿਣੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਹਥ ਪੈਰ ਹੋਰ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਕਰਣੀ। Vinu Sayvaa Dhrigu Had Pair Hor Nihaphal Karanee. विणु सेवा ध्रिगु हथ पैर होर निहफल करणी । Without service, cursed are the heads, and feet, and useless are other deeds. 5 ਵਾਰਾਂ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ : ਵਾਰ ੨੭ ਪਉੜੀ ੧੦ ਪੰ. ੫" (Vaar 27, Pauri 10). It is very important for us to do Seva, but what is Seva? Seva is selfless service or to serve the Guru or people without the intention of getting something in return, and serve only from the goodness of the heart. In Gurdwaras there are various types of Seva; from cleaning the dishes; to helping build the Gurdwara, (Kar Seva); cleaning the floor; among others, in which you are greatly helping a variety of people; regardless who they are. Before we can get to that stage; we might have to grow a little from doing small things at a Gurdwara; because every small thing is very important for spiritual growth; you may not like it in the beginning; or you may be blessed from the Seva immediately and already feel a desire to help people; (Daas personally had a very difficult time growing in this aspect; as it was hard for Daas in the beginning). It helps you see Vaheguru not only in others but in your own self. Now what should we do to start this: here are some tips: 1. Don't brag about your Seva, 2. Don't make Seva about yourself, but rather about the Guru. 3. If you can't do a lot of Seva; do the small things, (let it grow slowly). 4. Do Simran while doing Seva, or some other Gurbani, (sometimes this is forgotten, but remember the Vaheguru who has always had blessed you). 5. Do see everyone as one when doing Seva, (this is something Daas is still working on, but when doing Seva; keep the idea of equality alive as that was how Bhai Kanhaiya was able to serve foe and friend equally). With these 5 tips we will hopefully grow in ourselves, it doesn't have to be for hours; but make it all from your heart and not because Daas told you. Vaheguru, Vaheguru, Vaheguru: this should be the focus on constantly remembering Vaheguru; if you took nothing from this. Daas requests you remember to do Simran when you do Seva.
