Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! As many of the Sangat reading this know, Bandi Chor Diwas is soon; so as part of a special post we, will be talking about Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Hargobind Ji, (6th Guru), freeing the 52 kings of the jail known as Gwailor Fort, as well as himself being considered free, (the Guru is the only true free being; however, we are referring to a worldly level), and why he was in the jail in the first place?
To begin we have to understand why Guru Sahib was sent to prison by Jahangir, the same king whom Guru Sahib saved from death against a lion; the reason for him first being sent was that Jahangir was ill, and was told the only cure would be to send the holiest person who he knew into Gwailor Fort, (which was a prison known to have a very small survival rate for the inmates), and since the holiest person that has ever came in all of history was the Jot of the Guru, he decided to put Guru Sahib in jail. Throughout this, the man known as Chandu Shah, (the one who caused Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji to become Shaheed), had decided to get plans to kill the 6th form of Guru as well; however, Gursikhs had easily found out and had brought him to justice, (he was brought to justice from the very person who was one of the executioners of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji). The next important thing was the importance of the 52 kings. Eventually Jahangir was cured from his disease and forgot that Guru Sahib was in jail; (Guru Sahib stayed in Gwailor Fort for years before Jahangir had realized what he was doing), and eventually some Sufi mystics, including Mian Mir and others told Jahangir that he should realize Guru Sahib especially for the fact that his problem was fixed and that he was previously protected by Guru Sahib. Jahangir decided to free the Guru; however, Guru Sahib would not leave because of Daya, (compassion), and eventually told Jahangir he would only leave if all the 52 kings of Gwailor Fort were to be freed as well. Eventually this led to Jahangir telling Guru Sahib that he would allow the kings to leave, if they could hold on to Guru Sahib's cloak, so in response Guru Sahib had a cloak with 52 corners made special for this. Eventually all 52 kings were freed and Sikhs were allowed to see Guru Sahib freed, after many years, (Baba Buddha was the main person who had contact with Guru Sahib during this period and he with a group of Sikhs would go to Gwailor every month to see Guru Sahib). Finally Guru Sahib was able to do more great works, and was able to travel to do prachar and fight in some battles against Shah Jahan. Vaheguru, Vaheguru, Vaheguru, let us all be grateful for the blessings Guru Sahib constantly gives us, in the same way Guru Sahib can free physical kings from physical suffering, he can free us from our spiritual brokenness, and lead us to Vaheguru. He is not subject to any laws of Karma and reincarnation, which is why we can be free. Bhul Chuk Maaf Karni, (Forgive any Mistakes from Daas), Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
